Hurling

At the fields down from Paul Hoeys house (Kennys older brother) in London. There is a large Irish population in this part of town and I was able to watch Hurling, Gaelic Football, and football (soccer) all at the same place. I'm holding a Hurley in the picture.

  1. and in your hand my friend is a Sliotar (Sliter) for pronunciation. Hurling is the second fastest sport in the world after Ice Hockey.

  2. Hurling (Irish: Iománaíocht/Iomáint) is an outdoor team sport of ancient Gaelic origin, administered by the Gaelic Athletic Association, and played with sticks called hurleys and a ball called a sliotar. The game has prehistoric origins, has been played for at least 3,000 years,[1] and is thought to be the world's fastest field team sport in terms of game play.[2][3][1] One of Ireland's native Gaelic games, it shares a number of features with Gaelic football, such as the field and goals, number of players, and much terminology. There is a similar game for women called camogie (camógaíocht).
