So this is a picture at dinner after we left the Romanian Cup match. I ordered a side of fries to go with my meal and since there was nothing to put on the fries I asked for some ketchup. I was brought the little container of ketchup that you see on the right as well as a bill for 1 Leu for the ketchup. That's the equivalent of about 30 cents. Not a big deal but just surprised they charged me for ketchup.

4th division pro soccer
This is a picture of the 4th division pro soccer stadium in Talmaciu. The season has only been over for about 2 weeks and obviously not much has been done in terms of upkeep since then. The stands were made of metal with wooden planks as seats but all the wood had been stolen so it was just a bunch of metal, didn't look very comfortable. Supposedly they get about 200 fans per game.

Romanian super Walmart
It wasnt a Walmart but it was similar in that it had food plus everything else under the sun. There were a number of workers on rollerskates in the store. When I checked out the cashier needed some change so one of the employees skated off to go get it. It was a massive store, but you still don't expect to see employees roller skating.

Weddings and smoking
Walking through town and Glad said there was a wedding going on at this house. That is the significance of the two trees. On another note was told that 3 out of 4 people in Romania smoke cigarettes, and I believe it. We were out last night and at a table of 4 smokers there were 7 packs of cigarettes. I think I have probably smoked the equivalent of a pack of cigarettes from all the second hand smoke I have inhaled the last 7 days.

Random post of the day 2
So my Irish buddy, Ken Hoey, who I will see later this month in Dublin is out watching World Cup soccer qualifying games and betting on horses as the Irish do and he sent me this picture. It's 9 years too early and one month too late.

Random post of the day
I'm at a bar in Sibiu drinking Carlsberg beer and listening to conversations in Romanian, which means understanding nothing. So between texting with my gf and answering emails I decided to post to my blog. This photo is old, but Glad informed me that Romania has earthquakes which was news to me. However I'm not worried because I know to "keep my calm down".

Stuffed cabbage
Lunch in sighisoara was stuffed cabbage with polenta, a traditional Romanian dish. It was delicious and vegetarian and cost 11.90 lei which is about $4. Sitting in a coffee shop now waiting to catch the train back to Sibiu and then catch a ride to Talmacel. Stopped at a produce stand and bought a half kilo of cherries for 5 lei. You can figure out my many pounds of cherries that was is US dollars and let me know if I got a good deal :)
